Please support: Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support

Posted in critters, Kindness, Sad Reality by Lori E. Seid on 29 March 2011

Lori,  You are a dear. You have my blessing to do this and start spreading the word. The fact is that there are many animals still alive, that need rescuing. Our group saved 2 dogs and a cow today. Many animals in Fukushima (the nuclear area) have just been deserted and left to starve to death. Some lucky dogs were let off their leash to fend for themselves. But it is unbelievable.
We have a great team up there now. (I’m at emails, phone and shelter duty all day.) We several cars going everyday looking for animals and we are going to save a lot in the end, doing what we can do with your help.

These days we get a lot of questions about our work and I say, if I were lost I’d want someone
to look for me. I can’t say how many we will save, but we will try.
In the end, Japan needs a better preparation for this kind of disaster. It is not the first and not the last.
I hope JEARS can work toward creating a plan to have a better faster more complete response
to animals crises in the future,
best to you,
David

Three Mile Island, 32 years later and….

Photo copyright Dona Ann McAdams. From the series, The Nuclear Survival Kit, 1978-1986.  About this photo, she tells me;

That is  SMUD,   Sacramento Municipal Utility District,  the reactor is called Rancho Seco and  it was decommissioned in 1989 largely because it was a piece of shit. It became a nature trail named after  Charles Howard, the guy who owned Seabiscuit. Have a look in Wiki. Its better than fiction.

A bizzilion thank you’s to legendary artist, Dona Ann McAdams, for permission to print this and being so conscious — then & now—she actual knew today is the 32 anniversary of Three Mile island!

Please stay tuned here for more lent samples of Dona’s genius photographs as she readies her own website soon to be launched:  DonaAnnMcAdams.com

FUCK YOU CHRIS BROWN & ABC

“Let me get this straight: Adam Lambert snogs a dude on the American Music Awards, and spends months banned from ABC shows like Good Morning America and The View. Chris Brown breaks a window and storms out of Good Morning America when he’s asked about his felony assault of Rihanna, and he’s still welcome to perform on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. So male-male kissing is worse than violence. Thanks for clearing that up ABC.” – AfterElton‘s Ed Kennedy on ABC’s apparent anti-gay policy.

RIP Elizabeth Taylor; Glamourous Star, Fabulous Actress, Friend & Saviour to People with AIDS

“I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands. For me, life happened, just as it does for anyone else. I have been supremely lucky in my life in that I have known great love, and of course I am the temporary custodian of some incredible and beautiful things. But I have never felt more alive than when I watched my children delight in something, never more alive than when I have watched a great artist perform, and never richer than when I have scored a big check to fight AIDS.”

Chernobyl Cleanup Survivor’s Message for Japan: ‘Run Away as Quickly as Possible’

Posted in Truth by Lori E. Seid on 23 March 2011

What message do you have for Japan?
Run away as quickly as possible. Don’t wait. Save yourself and don’t rely on the government because the government lies. They don’t want you to know the truth because the nuclear industry is so powerful.

Natalia Manzurova

When you were called to go to Chernobyl, did you know how bad it was there?
I had no idea and never knew the true scope until much later. It was all covered in secrecy. I went there as a professional because I was told to — but if I was asked to liquidate such an accident today, I’d never agree. The sacrifices the Fukushima workers are making are too high because the nuclear industry was developed in such a way that the executives don’t hold themselves accountable to the human beings who have to clean up a disaster. It’s like nuclear slavery.
